A Perfect First Himalayan Trek

Kuari Pass is an excellent choice for those stepping into the Himalayas for the first time. Categorised as a moderate trek, it offers the perfect balance of challenge and reward. Forest walks, scenic ridge climbs, and the thrilling ascent to Kuari Pass make this trek exciting yet achievable with the right preparation.

With every day unfolding a new landscape and perspective, Kuari Pass is truly an experience you’ll carry with you for life.

A Trail Full of Ever-Changing Beauty

Starting from Karchi, the trail winds through dense forests, open clearings, and vibrant meadows before finally reaching Kuari Pass. The forest section towards Akhrotghetta, glowing sunsets at Khullara campsite, and the peaceful surroundings make sure there’s never an ordinary day on this trek.

On summit day, you climb to the grand viewpoint of Khullara Top, where the Himalayas reveal themselves in full glory. Peaks like Mt. Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kamet, Mana–Mandir, Dronagiri, and Hathi–Gauri stand tall right in front of you—an unforgettable panorama of Garhwal’s finest.

A stunning ridge walk then leads you to Chitrakantha meadows, followed by a descent to the magical Tali campsite. Nestled amidst golden oak forests and set beside a gentle mountain stream, Tali is easily one of the most picturesque campsites in the Himalayas.

A Trek Steeped in History

Kuari Pass is also known as the legendary Lord Curzon Trail. Walked by British explorers and mountaineers over a century ago, this historic route has stood the test of time and remains a timeless favourite among Himalayan trekkers.

What Makes the Kuari Pass Trek Special

Grand Views of Iconic Himalayan Peaks

One of the biggest highlights of the Kuari Pass Trek is its unmatched mountain views. From the very first day, you’ll witness giants like Mt. Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and more dominating the skyline. The view of Mt. Nanda Devi from Gorson Bugyal is especially breathtaking—humbling, powerful, and unforgettable.

Enchanting Oak & Rhododendron Forests

The trek takes you through ancient oak and rhododendron forests that feel almost magical. In summer and autumn, these forests are lush and green; in winter, they transform into a snowy wonderland. The gentle forest trails make for peaceful, meditative walks.

Expansive Meadows That Change With Seasons

Open alpine meadows like Gorson Bugyal and Chitrakantha add a unique charm to the trek. Each season paints these meadows differently—lush green in early autumn, golden in late autumn, and pristine white in winter. No two Kuari Pass treks ever feel the same.

The Thrill of Khullara Top

Reaching Khullara Top is the emotional high point of the trek. Surrounded by endless snow-covered peaks, the sense of achievement and awe is unmatched. The climb is demanding, but the reward at the top is worth every step.
