Dayara Bugyal Trek

Dayara Bugyal is located at an altitude of 3605 meters above sea level in the Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand. Bhatwari, situated on the Uttarkashi-Gangotri road, from here you can reach this beautiful meadow. To reach Dayara Bugyal, you have to travel about 8 kilometres by trekking from Barsu village, where you can reach by vehicle.

What is so special about Dayara Bugyal Trek?

 

This green field of grasslands of Dayara Bugyal serves as an outstanding destination for skiing during winters and this bugyal is spread over 28 sq km. This breathtaking place is located amidst high mountains covered with snow. During this memorable trek to Dayara Bugyal in Uttarakhand, you will see the lake of Barnala Tal scattered amongst the green alpine valleys – the reflection of which makes the peaks look even more beautiful.

Day 1:-Dehradun to Raithal (Drive 190 km, 7-8 hours drive)

 

Today you will start early in the morning, driving through the mountains of the Garhwal. You will take a long drive of 200 km which will take you around 7-8 hours to reach Raithal. Raithal is a small village which is located around 32 km from Uttarkashi district.

As you approach Raithal, you can see the spectacular colours of sunset on Mount Jaunli and Draupadi ka Danda peaks.

Night Stay: Stay in a homestay or hotel.
Altitude: 2256 m

 

Day 2:- Raithal to Gui (4-5 hours/ 4 km Trek)

 

Today you will start your trek early in the morning with a 4 km climb to Gui. Gui is located at an altitude of 2972 m. It will take around 4-5 hours to complete this 4 km trek from Raithal to Gui.

You will pass through the dense forest of Rhododendrons and gold oak trees. You will find no water sources on the way so you need to carry 1-2 l of water with you.

After an exciting trek of 4 hours, you will reach Gui Campsite, which is a small clearing surrounded by pine forest. You will also find a small pond and some quaint huts near the campsite.

At Raithal, you can see Gangotri 1, 2, 3 and Mt. Srikanth  in the distance. 

Water Source: No Sources. It is required to carry enough water during the trek.

Day 3: Gui To Dayara Bugyal  To Chilapada (6-7 hours/ 11 km Trek)

 

Today you will trek to Dayara Bugyak via Chilapada which is an easy hike, mostly through the forest. During the journey, you will have a panoramic view of other mighty Himalayan peaks. On reaching Chelapada you will come across a flowing river.

After a short walk from Chilapada, you will reach the lush green alpine meadows of Dayara, in local language, it is known as Bugyal. These grasslands are vast and undulant, overlooking the mighty Himalayan peaks. While walking on these meadows, you will be amazed by the colourful flowers blooming all around.

After a short walk on the meadows, you will reach the final destination. It is a little steep climb but worth it as you will stand in front of the Dodital range and mighty Bandarpunchch peak. Enjoy the pictorial view of the surroundings and trek to the Chilapada Campsite.

Water Source: There is only 1 water source. You need to carry enough water with you.

Day 4: Chilpada to Raithal ( 5-6 hours / 7 km)

 

Today your day will start by trekking down to Barsu via thick forests. You will reach the village by afternoon.

Trek: 7  km

Stay: Guest House
Altitude: 2,256 m

Day 5: Raithal to Dehradun ( 8=9 hours / 13 KM)

Drive back to Dehradun. You trek ends today.

Transport to and from Badrinath – Walking The Himalayas will arrange shared taxis for trekkers. These shared taxis will pick you up from Dehradun Railway Station or Airport. Taxi from Haridwar to Badrinath costs around Rs. 6000 - 9000 per taxi and Rs. 9000 - 12000 per tempo one way. So if you are in a group of 6 - 10 persons then a taxi/tempo will cost around 1000 per person for one side.  


Food during transit to and from the base camp – Walking the Himalayas doesn't include meals purchased during the journey to Gangotri and back.


Backpack offloading charges – If you wish to offload your backpack, there will be an additional charge of Rs. 1,500 - 2000. The backpack cannot weigh more than 9 - 10 kgs. Walking The Himalayas does not allow Suitcases/Strollers/Duffel bags during the trek, so if you are bringing these then you have to take care on your own. These charges can vary for last minute offloading in case you decide to offload your bag after reaching Gangotri (Rs.350 per day inclusive of taxes).
 

Personal expenses - Your trekking package doesn't include any kind of personal expenses. 

Cancellation

 

If your trek gets called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc.) we will not refund your money. Instead of money, Walking The Himalayas will issue a trek voucher for the full amount. You can easily redeem that voucher for the same amount for any of the treks available at the same price.

Cancellation charges are based on the total trek fee, irrespective of the amount paid either full or partial.

The cancellation policy of Walking The Himalayas is based on the original booking time and the original start date of the trek.

  • If you cancel a trek before 30 days of trek start date and get a full refund after deduction of 1.99% payment processing fee.

  • If you cancel a trek before 15 days of the trek start date and get a refund after a deduction of 20% of the total trek fee.

  • If you cancel a trek before 10 days of the trek start date and get a refund after a deduction of 40% of the total trek fee.

  • If you cancel a trek before 5 days of the trek start date and get a refund after a deduction of 60% of the total trek fee.

  • The Trek fee is non-refundable if you cancel within 4 days before the trek start date.

Trek cancellation due to weather:

  • In case of an incomplete trek due to weather conditions, you can opt for the same trek again throughout your lifetime on all our fixed departures for the same trek.

  • This attempt only covers the trek fee and will not include any rentals or the transportation amount paid earlier.

  • This is non-transferable.
