Dayara Bugyal Winter Trek – The White Meadow of Dreams
Nestled in the heart of Uttarkashi, Dayara Bugyal transforms into a mesmerizing wonderland during winter, earning its poetic title — The White Meadow of Dreams. Draped in a pristine blanket of snow, this high-altitude meadow offers one of the most scenic and beginner-friendly winter treks in Uttarakhand.
With gentle trails, enchanting oak and pine forests, and sweeping views of Himalayan giants like Bandarpunch (6,316 m) and Black Peak (Kalanag, 6,387 m), the Dayara Bugyal Trek perfectly balances adventure and serenity.
🌨️ Why Dayara Bugyal is a Dream Winter Trek?
During winters (December to February), Dayara Bugyal turns into a sparkling amphitheatre of snow. The vast meadows shimmer under the sun, the trees wear icy crowns, and the trails lead you into a landscape that feels straight out of a fairytale. It’s a trek where each sunrise paints the peaks in gold and each night reveals a sky brimming with stars.
From the summit, trekkers are rewarded with panoramic views of the mighty Bandarpunch (6,316 m), Black Peak (Kalanag), Srikanth Peak, Draupadi Ka Danda, and even parts of the Gangotri range. The feeling of standing in the middle of an endless meadow, with 360° views of snow-capped peaks, is beyond words—it’s pure magic.

Today is the most exciting and rewarding day of your Dayara Bugyal trek — the day you ascend to the magnificent alpine meadows of Dayara Bugyal, one of the most beautiful high-altitude grasslands in India.
After an early breakfast, we start our trek from Gui campsite following a well-defined trail that climbs gradually through oak and rhododendron forests. As you gain altitude, the trees begin to thin out and the trail opens into expansive meadows. The crisp mountain air, sweeping vistas, and gradual climb make this section both refreshing and exhilarating.
As you move closer to the top, the panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas start to unfold — Bandarpunch, Black Peak (Kalanag), Srikanth, Gangotri, Draupadi Ka Danda, and Jaonli dominate the skyline, offering breathtaking photo opportunities at every turn. The Dayara Bugyal Top, at around 3,700 meters, presents a stunning 360° view of snow-covered Himalayan peaks stretching endlessly across the horizon.
You’ll have your packed lunch here amidst the rolling meadows, where gentle winds and pristine beauty create an almost dreamlike atmosphere. Spend some quiet moments soaking in the scenery, exploring the vast grassland, or simply lying on the soft green carpet of nature.
Remember to carry sufficient water, as there’s only one water source near the top. The trek today involves moderate ascents and descents, but the rewarding views more than make up for the effort.
After spending ample time at the top, we begin our descent back to Gui, retracing the same scenic route. The downhill walk is easier, allowing you to enjoy the changing shades of the sunset as you return to camp.
Once back at Gui, unwind with a hot dinner and a campfire (if conditions allow). The night sky here is crystal clear, perfect for stargazing — a serene end to a day filled with adventure and wonder.
