As you pass through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag, witness the beautiful river confluences that shape Uttarakhand’s spiritual landscape. Gradually, the terrain shifts from plains to winding mountain roads, dense forests, and remote villages.

By evening, you’ll arrive at Lohajung (7,550 ft) — a small Himalayan village and the base camp for the Brahmatal Trek. After check-in, relax and acclimatize to the mountain environment. In the evening, enjoy a warm dinner followed by a trek briefing from your trek leader.

The trail climbs steadily through open snow slopes and ridgelines. As you gain height, a spectacular Himalayan panorama unfolds, showcasing Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhamba, and Neelkanth on clear days.

After spending time at the summit, begin your descent towards Brahmatal Camp (10,190 ft), located near the legendary Brahmatal Lake — believed to be the meditation site of Lord Brahma.

 

Enjoy the serene surroundings and end the day with a warm meal and overnight stay at the campsite.

Yes, age is not a barrier as long as you are medically fit and physically active. Trekkers above 62 are welcome after a medical clearance from their doctor and a discussion with our trek advisors. What is the style of accommodation on this trek?

Accommodation includes guesthouses or homestays at Lohajung and tented camping during the trek. Our tents are high-quality, weather-resistant, and designed for cold conditions. Sleeping bags and mattresses suitable for sub-zero temperatures are provided for your comfort.

When will there be snow on this trek?

Snow is usually present on the Brahmatal Trek from late December to March, depending on weather conditions. January and February offer the best chances of deep snow and classic winter trekking experiences.

Mobile network is limited and intermittent. Lohajung has partial connectivity (mostly BSNL), but there is no reliable network during the trek. Electricity is available at the base village but not at campsites. This makes Brahmatal a great digital detox experience.

Which is the nearest ATM to Brahmatal?

The nearest ATM is located in Dewal, approximately 20 km before Lohajung. It’s advisable to withdraw sufficient cash at Rishikesh or Karnaprayag to avoid inconvenience.

Can I keep extra luggage at the base camp in Lohajung?

Yes, Walking The Himalayas provides secure luggage storage at the Lohajung base camp. You can leave behind any items not required for the trek and collect them after returning.

What are the places of interest that I can visit before or after the trek?

Accommodation is in high-quality four-season tents, with two trekkers per tent. These tents are designed to withstand cold temperatures, wind, and snowfall, ensuring warmth and safety throughout the trek.

Personal items such as trekking shoes, jackets, backpacks, and thermals are not included. These can be rented locally or arranged independently before the trek.

 

Backpack Offloading (Optional)

 

Trekkers are encouraged to carry their own backpacks to experience trekking in its true spirit. However, offloading can be arranged at an additional cost.

Cloakroom / Extra Luggage

Limited storage is available at the base camp for extra luggage. Any additional luggage beyond the permitted limit may attract extra charges.

Trek Insurance

Trek insurance is mandatory and charged separately. It provides essential coverage for adventure-related medical situations not covered by regular health insurance.

Anything Not Mentioned in Inclusions

Any service or item not explicitly mentioned under “Inclusions” is excluded from the trek fee.

Cancellation

 

If your trek gets called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh, etc.) we will not refund your money. Instead of money, Walking The Himalayas will issue a trek voucher for the full amount. You can easily redeem that voucher for the same amount for any of the treks available at the same price.

Cancellation charges are based on the total trek fee, irrespective of the amount paid either full or partial.

The cancellation policy of Walking The Himalayas is based on the original booking time and the original start date of the trek.

  • If you cancel a trek before 30 days of the trek start date and get a full refund after the deduction of a 1.99% payment processing fee.

  • If you cancel a trek before 15 days of the trek start date and get a refund after a deduction of 20% of the total trek fee.

  • If you cancel a trek before 10 days of the trek start date and get a refund after a deduction of 40% of the total trek fee.

  • If you cancel a trek before 5 days of the trek start date and get a refund after a deduction of 60% of the total trek fee.

  • The Trek fee is non-refundable if you cancel within 4 days before the trek start date.

Trek cancellation due to weather:

  • In case of an incomplete trek due to weather conditions, you can opt for the same trek again throughout your lifetime on all our fixed departures for the same trek.

  • This attempt only covers the trek fee and will not include any rentals or the transportation amount paid earlier.
