“Not all those who wander are lost.”

There are many picturesque historical sites under the Garhwal Himalayas, as many mysteries are revealed as they are discovered. Scientists, historians, archaeologists, geologists, and curious tourists have been following the footsteps of these places since ancient times to see these fascinating and mysterious places.

Many Bugyals have become so popular that they have become the attraction of tourists in themselves. When the snow melts, there is greenery all around in the rainy atmosphere. ⁣ Mountains and valleys are filled with flowers and vegetation. Due to their diversity, complexity and beauty, these Bugyals have always been a centre of attraction for amateurs. ⁣

Nature lovers from all over the world reach these sloping plains of velvet grass for miles. The beauty of it is that in every season you will see new colours and new views on them. ⁣ After the rain, colourful blooming flowers will be seen welcoming you from place to place on these sloping grounds. Plants grow to a certain height in Bugyals.⁣

What is so special about Bedni Bugyal Trek?

Imagine you are walking on grassland of green velvet grass stretching for thousands of feet. There are snow-clad Himalayan peaks just touching your right hand. The sky is changing colour every moment, wherever you look on the ground, give you different types of views, then undoubtedly this world will not look less than a dream. In the foothills of the icebergs, green velvet meadows begin from where the timberline (i.e. tree lines) ends.

Bedni and Ali Bugyal are some of the most beautiful places situated at an altitude of  3,354 metres. There are huge alpine meadows or high altitude grassland near Gwaldam, In the local language, they call it Bugyal.  Bugyal is the area between the snow line and the tree line. These Bugyals provide pasture work for the local people and cattle, and a resting place and campsite for shepherds, wanderers and trekking enthusiasts. ⁣

In winter, when white sheets of snow are laid on the velvety grass of summer, Bedni Bugyals become the base of skiing and other snow sports. On almost every trekking route of Garhwal, you will find such Bugyal.
